Marathon Petroleum Corporation is an American petroleum refining, marketing and pipeline transportation company headquartered in Findlay, Ohio, spun off in 2011 from Marathon Oil Corporation to separate the downstream refining and retail business from upstream oil and gas exploration. Its lineage traces back to the Ohio Oil Company founded in 1887, and the company for many years operated the Speedway convenience store and fuel chain before selling it to 7-Eleven's parent company in 2021.
