Manulife Financial Corporation is a Canadian multinational insurance company and financial services provider headquartered in Toronto, founded in 1887 as The Manufacturers Life Insurance Company. The company grew from a Canadian life insurer into an international financial services group offering insurance, wealth management, and asset management products across Canada, the United States, and Asia, and it operates its United States insurance business under the John Hancock brand, a name it acquired through a 2004 merger.
