Malayan Banking Berhad, commonly known as Maybank, is a Malaysian universal bank founded on May 31, 1960, by Khoo Teck Puat and Oei Tjong Ie, with key home markets in Malaysia, Singapore and Indonesia. It is Malaysia's largest bank by market capitalisation and total assets, operating about 2,600 retail banking branches worldwide with more than 43,000 employees, and was named Malaysia's most valuable bank brand by Brand Finance in 2020. As of 2021 the bank reported total assets exceeding 201.84 billion US dollars, and its headquarters are at Merdeka 118 in Kuala Lumpur.
