London and South Western Railway

The London and South Western Railway, known as the LSWR, was an English railway company that operated from 1838 to 1922, headquartered at London Waterloo station. Originating as the London and Southampton Railway, it expanded across southern England to serve towns including Dorchester, Weymouth, Salisbury, Exeter and Plymouth, becoming the largest constituent later merged into the Southern Railway. Under the Railways Act 1921, the LSWR was amalgamated into the Southern Railway on 1 January 1923, ending its independent operation while running 862 route miles.
