Linde plc is an industrial gas company originally founded in 1879 in Germany by the engineer Carl von Linde, a pioneer of refrigeration technology used to liquefy air. It became one of the world's largest industrial gas companies, supplying oxygen, nitrogen and other gases to industry and health care, and took its current corporate form through the 2018 merger of Linde AG and the American industrial gas company Praxair, with the combined company domiciled in Ireland and listed in the United States.
