Land Securities Group plc, commonly known as Landsec, is a British real estate investment trust headquartered in London, one of the largest commercial property companies in the United Kingdom. It was founded in 1944 as Land Securities Investment Trust and grew over the following decades into a major owner and developer of office, retail and mixed-use properties across the UK, particularly in central London. Landsec's portfolio has historically included major London office developments and out-of-town and city-center shopping destinations, and the company converted to real estate investment trust status when the UK introduced that structure in 2007. It remains one of the largest listed property companies on the London Stock Exchange.
