LAM Mozambique Airlines is the flag carrier of Mozambique, headquartered in Maputo with its main hub at Maputo International Airport. It traces its origin to August 26, 1936, as DETA, a division of the Portuguese colonial government's Department of Railways, Harbours and Airways, beginning regular operations on December 22, 1937, and was renamed LAM following a 1980 reorganization. The airline operates scheduled services across Southern Africa and belongs to the International Air Transport Association and the African Airlines Association.
