KT Corporation, formerly known as Korea Telecom, is South Korea's leading fixed-line and broadband operator and its second-largest mobile carrier, headquartered in Seongnam's Bundang-gu district. It descends from the state telecommunications bureau that operated Korea's national telephone network for most of the twentieth century, was corporatized in 1981 and fully privatized in 2002 following a series of staged share sales. KT operates South Korea's largest fixed-line and IPTV networks alongside its KT Mobile wireless business, and it has diversified into satellite services, cloud computing and information technology outsourcing through subsidiaries, trading on the Korea Exchange with an American Depositary Receipt listing on the New York Stock Exchange.
