Krombacher Brauerei is a German brewery founded on February 7, 1807 by Johannes Haas, whose father's tavern in Krombach was required by local regulation to brew its own beer, and is headquartered in Kreuztal, North Rhine-Westphalia, near Siegen. The Schadeberg family has controlled the company since Bernhard Schadeberg took over management in 1922, with current ownership held by Friedrich Schadeberg, Barbara Lambrecht-Schadeberg, Bernhard Schadeberg and Petra Schadeberg-Hermann. Krombacher is one of Germany's largest privately owned breweries and ranks second among the country's best-selling beers, producing 5.49 million hectolitres in 2015 with 866 employees and 608.5 million euros in revenue, exporting primarily to Italy and Spain.
