Koninklijke Philips N.V. is a Dutch multinational health technology company and former major consumer electronics manufacturer, founded in Eindhoven in 1891 by Gerard Philips and his father Frederik Philips to manufacture incandescent light bulbs. Through the twentieth century it grew into a large electronics conglomerate making products from kitchen appliances and electric shavers to lighting equipment and televisions, and it moved its corporate headquarters from Eindhoven to Amsterdam beginning in 1998. Since the 2010s the company has progressively shifted its focus to health technology, divesting its television, lighting and appliance divisions, and it now operates three main business segments, Diagnosis and Treatment, Connected Care and Personal Health, centered on medical imaging, patient monitoring and personal health products.
