Koninklijke KPN N.V., commonly known as Royal KPN, is the Netherlands' leading telecommunications operator, headquartered in the Rotterdam and The Hague area. It descends from the Dutch state postal, telegraph and telephone service (PTT), was corporatized in 1989 and privatized in stages beginning with an initial public offering in 1994, and today trades on Euronext Amsterdam with no remaining Dutch state ownership. KPN provides fixed-line, mobile, broadband and television services across the Netherlands, has been an early and extensive investor in nationwide fibre-optic infrastructure, and previously held international mobile and fixed operations in Germany (E-Plus) and Belgium (BASE) before divesting those foreign units to focus on its core Dutch domestic market.
