Komerční banka is a major Czech bank based in Prague, founded in 1990 and now the parent of KB Group within the Société Générale international banking group, which owns about 60 percent of it. It provides retail, corporate and investment banking to around 1.6 million customers in the Czech Republic and Slovakia through nearly 400 branches, distribution networks and internet banking. The bank traces its origin to the separation of the commercial arm of the former State Bank of Czechoslovakia and was partly privatized through voucher privatization in 1992.
