Kakao Corporation is a South Korean internet conglomerate headquartered in Jeju City, formed through the 2014 merger of Daum Communications and the original Kakao Inc, with roots reaching back to 1995. Its flagship product is the KakaoTalk messaging app, which held about 90 percent of South Korea's domestic messaging market share in 2015, and the company has since expanded into financial services, entertainment, mobility and other digital platforms used by millions of people.
