The Islamic Republic News Agency (IRNA) is the official state news agency of Iran, headquartered in Tehran and tracing its origin to 1934, when it was founded as Pars News Agency under Reza Shah. It is funded and controlled by Iran's Ministry of Culture and Islamic Guidance, and it distributes domestic and international news through a large network of offices inside and outside the country.
