Intuit Inc. is an American financial software company headquartered in Mountain View, California, the maker of QuickBooks and TurboTax, two of the most widely used personal and small-business financial software products in the United States. It was founded in 1983 by Scott Cook and Tom Proulx, who built the personal finance program Quicken to replace manual checkbook bookkeeping, and the company later developed QuickBooks for small-business accounting and TurboTax for consumer tax preparation. Intuit has continued to expand its product portfolio through acquisitions, including the personal finance platform Credit Karma in 2020 and the email marketing and automation company Mailchimp in 2021. The company remains centered on software for individuals, small businesses and accounting professionals to manage money, taxes and business operations.
