IKEA is a multinational furniture retailer founded in Sweden in 1943 by Ingvar Kamprad, known for ready-to-assemble furniture, modernist design and a big-box shopping format built around decorated room settings that let customers interact with products. It has been the world's largest furniture retailer since 2008, and its operational hub remains in Almhult, Sweden, home to its first store and the IKEA Museum.
