Iarnród Éireann, known in English as Irish Rail, is the operator of the national railway network of the Republic of Ireland, established on 2 February 1987 as a subsidiary of the state transport holding company Córas Iompair Éireann. The company operates all of the country's internal InterCity, Commuter, DART and freight railway services, and it jointly operates the cross-border Enterprise service between Dublin and Belfast together with Northern Ireland Railways. In 2025 the company carried a record peak of 55 million passengers.
