The Hull and Barnsley Railway was a British railway company headquartered in Kingston upon Hull, originally chartered as the Hull, Barnsley and West Riding Junction Railway and Dock Company and opened on 20 July 1885, before being renamed in 1905. It operated a main line from Hull to Cudworth with branch lines into Yorkshire's industrial areas and also managed Alexandra Dock in Hull, which opened the same day as the railway, combining transportation and dock operations, and it held joint running powers on the Hull and Barnsley and Great Central Joint Railway. The company operated independently from 1885 until 1922, when it became part of the North Eastern Railway and subsequently the London and North Eastern Railway.
