Hanwha Aerospace is a South Korean aerospace and defense company headquartered in Jung District, Seoul, and a subsidiary of the Hanwha Group. It was established on August 1, 1977 as Samsung Precision Industry, and describes itself as Korea's only gas turbine engine manufacturer, developing and producing aircraft engines alongside ground weapon systems and other aerospace components; by 2016 it had manufactured more than 8,000 pieces of equipment. The company operates through six business segments, Defense, Aviation Engine, Power Systems, Security, Industrial Equipment and Information Technology Services, and its products include missiles, rocket engines, military vehicles and lithium battery systems.
