GSK plc, known as GlaxoSmithKline until a 2022 rename, is a British pharmaceutical company headquartered in London, formed by the 2000 merger of Glaxo Wellcome and SmithKline Beecham, itself the product of earlier mergers among British and American pharmacy and consumer-goods firms dating back centuries. It took its current name when it demerged its consumer healthcare business as the separately listed company Haleon in 2022, and remains one of the largest pharmaceutical and vaccine companies in the world.
