Great Northern, Piccadilly and Brompton Railway

The Great Northern, Piccadilly and Brompton Railway was a company established in 1902 to build a deep-level underground tube railway in London. It was formed by merging two predecessor companies, the Brompton and Piccadilly Circus Railway and the Great Northern and Strand Railway, under the ownership of the Underground Electric Railways Company of London. When its line opened in 1906 it served 22 stations over 14.17 kilometres between Hammersmith and Finsbury Park, with a short branch from Holborn to the Strand. In 1933 it and the rest of the Underground Electric Railways Company were taken into public ownership, and its tunnels and stations now form the central section of the London Underground's Piccadilly line.
