The Great Laxey Mine Railway was built in the 1870s at Laxey on the Isle of Man to carry lead ore from the Great Laxey Mine to its washing floors and mine yards, adding steam locomotives in 1877. It ceased operating in 1929 and was scrapped in 1935. Restoration began in 2000 and the railway reopened in 2004 as a narrow gauge heritage passenger line running about a quarter mile on the restored section of track.
