Glencore plc is a Swiss-based multinational commodity trading and mining company, formed in its current structure by the 2013 merger of the commodity trader Glencore, founded in 1974 as Marc Rich + Co, with the mining company Xstrata. It is one of the world's largest diversified natural resource companies, both trading and mining commodities including coal, copper, zinc and cobalt.
