Gentherm Incorporated

Gentherm Incorporated is an American thermal management technology company headquartered in Novi, Michigan, and traded on Nasdaq under the ticker THRM. It was founded in 1991 in California under the name Amerigon, moved to Michigan in 2005, and adopted the Gentherm name in 2012. The company is known for creating the Climate Control Seat system, a thermoelectric heating and cooling seat technology first offered by Ford on the 2000 model year Lincoln Navigator in 1999 and since adopted on more than fifty vehicle models from manufacturers including General Motors, Toyota's Lexus brand, Kia, Hyundai, Nissan's Infiniti brand and Jaguar Land Rover. The technology relies on the Peltier effect, in which an electric current passed through dissimilar metals produces heating or cooling. As of 2017 the company employed more than 14,000 people across more than 30 locations worldwide and reported revenue of about 986 million dollars.
