Gen Digital Inc., formerly Symantec Corporation and NortonLifeLock Inc., is a multinational software company co-headquartered in Tempe, Arizona and Prague, Czech Republic, providing cybersecurity software, financial technology and related services as a Fortune 500 company and member of the S&P 500 index. It was founded on March 1, 1982 in Sunnyvale, California by Gary Hendrix, operated as Symantec Corporation until 2019 and as NortonLifeLock Inc. until 2022, and adopted the Gen Digital name following its 2022 merger with Avast.
