Freibergsdorf Hammer Mill

The Freibergsdorf Hammer Mill was a metalworking enterprise in Germany's Ore Mountains that operated as a hammer works from its first documentary mention in 1607 until commercial production ceased in 1974, making it the last working hammer mill in Saxony and the only surviving iron hammer mill in the Freiberg mining region. Across its centuries of operation the business made mining tools and agricultural implements, later shifting to copper products after 1903. After production ended in 1974 the site was reconstructed between 1979 and 1989 and reopened to the public in 1991 as a museum run by the Freibergsdorf Hammer Mill Society.
