Freedom Communications was an American media conglomerate headquartered first in Santa Ana and later in Irvine, California. Founded in 1950 by Raymond C. Hoiles, the company operated newspapers, magazines, television stations, and websites across the United States under a libertarian editorial philosophy, with the Orange County Register as its flagship publication, before financial difficulties led to bankruptcy filings in 2009 and 2015 and the sale of its remaining newspapers to Digital First Media in 2016.
