Finnair

Finnair is the flag carrier of Finland, headquartered near Helsinki Airport and founded in 1923 as Aero O/Y, making it one of the oldest airlines in the world still in continuous operation. Finnair joined the Oneworld alliance in 1999 and built a distinctive long-haul strategy around Helsinki's far-northern geographic position, marketing itself as offering some of the shortest and most fuel-efficient routes between Europe and major cities in East Asia by flying over the Arctic and Russian airspace, a routing advantage significantly disrupted after 2022 when Russia closed its airspace to Finnish and other Western carriers following sanctions over the invasion of Ukraine.
