F & C Investment Trust plc, formerly Foreign & Colonial Investment Trust, is a publicly traded investment trust headquartered in London, England, recognized as the first collective investment scheme in the world. It was established in 1868 as The Foreign & Colonial Government Trust, initially specializing in government bonds before diversifying into equities from 1925 onward, and adopted its shortened name in 2018. The trust is listed on the London Stock Exchange as a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index and also trades on the New Zealand Exchange.
