The Ethiopian News Agency is the official state news agency of the government of Ethiopia and the oldest news organization in the country, founded in 1942 as a news distribution service within the government Press Department. It now operates as a semi-autonomous agency answerable to a board accountable to the House of Peoples Representatives, though the government retains full control. The agency distributes domestic and international news through branches across Ethiopia in Amharic, Arabic and Oromo, and exchanges content with other national news agencies.
