ERS Railways, formerly European Rail Shuttle B.V., is a rail freight company headquartered at Albert Plesmanweg 61B in Rotterdam, established in 1994 as a joint venture between SeaLand Service, P&O Containers, Nedlloyd and NS Cargo before rebranding to its current name in 2002; ownership has since passed through Maersk Line, Freightliner Group in 2013, Genesee and Wyoming in 2015, and the Swiss rail freight company Hupac in 2018. With about 100 employees and more than 400 container platforms, the company specializes in ISO container, tank and trailer transport, running shuttle services between major European ports, particularly Bremerhaven, Hamburg and Rotterdam, and inland destinations across Germany and Central Europe. It has held railway licenses in the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany and Austria, has run no diesel locomotives on long-distance routes since 2012, and by 2014 operated 250 trains weekly with turnover of 115 million euros.
