Epic Brewing Company is a brewing business based in Otahuhu, Auckland, New Zealand, established in 2006 and distinct from the separate Epic Brewing companies operating in Utah and Colorado. Head brewer Luke Nicholas acquired the brand from Steam Brewing Company, which continues to contract-brew Epic's beer, in October 2007, and the company began exporting to Australia in 2009 before reaching the United States, Sweden, Belgium and Italy by 2011. It gained wider recognition through a Discovery Channel collaboration with Delaware's Dogfish Head Brewery and its own series, NZ Craft Beer TV. Rising costs after the COVID-19 pandemic pushed Epic into liquidation on 25 July 2023, and it was bought a month later by construction firm Russell Group and drinks maker Hancocks, with founders Luke and Wendy Nicholas remaining involved.
