Empire Company Limited is a Canadian conglomerate engaged mostly in food retail and corporate investments, founded in 1963 and headquartered in Stellarton, Nova Scotia. It owns, affiliates with or franchises more than 1,500 stores across Canada under supermarket banners including Sobeys, Safeway, IGA, Foodland, Farm Boy, FreshCo and Thrifty Foods, as well as the Lawtons Drug Stores pharmacy chain.
