Edelaraudtee is a private Estonian railway company, founded in 1997, that owns railway infrastructure and today operates freight services on lines connecting Tallinn, Lelle, Viljandi and Parnu. Before 2014 it was the largest passenger railway operator in Estonia, carrying about 1.8 million passengers a year with roughly 500 employees, and in 2000 the British firm GB Railways bought a 20 percent stake; a government decision transferred its passenger operations to the competitor Elron at the end of 2013, a move the company contested and sought compensation for. It is now part of the AS Go Group and, in 2021, opened a 3 million euro automated control center in Turi.
