Dollar Tree, Inc., formerly known as Dollar Tree Stores, Inc., is an American multi-price-point chain of discount variety stores headquartered in Chesapeake, Virginia. Founded in 1953 and reorganized under the Dollar Tree format in 1986 in Sumter, South Carolina, the company operates more than fifteen thousand stores across the contiguous United States and Canada and is counted among the Fortune 500.
