DLA Piper is a multinational law firm with offices in more than 40 countries across the Americas, Asia Pacific, Europe, Africa and the Middle East. It was formed in 2005 through the merger of three law firms, Gray Cary Ware and Freidenrich of San Diego, Piper Rudnick of Baltimore and DLA of the United Kingdom, and operates as a Swiss Verein linking separate partnerships under one brand. The firm covers major practice areas including arbitration, banking, corporate finance, employment, energy, intellectual property, litigation, mergers and acquisitions, real estate and tax law. By 2022 it employed about 4,255 attorneys across 80 offices and reported revenue of roughly 3.68 billion dollars, ranking as the third largest United States law firm by revenue that year.
