Deutsche Boerse AG is a German company headquartered in Eschborn, near Frankfurt, that operates the Frankfurt Stock Exchange and a range of related financial market infrastructure. It was established in 1993 to bring the Frankfurt Stock Exchange and other German securities market functions under a single corporate holding structure, though trading on the Frankfurt exchange itself dates back centuries earlier. Deutsche Boerse operates the Xetra electronic trading platform, the Eurex derivatives exchange, and the Clearstream securities settlement and custody business, making it one of the largest operators of financial exchange and post-trade infrastructure in Europe, comparable to the already-live London Stock Exchange Group and CME Group in the exchange business it competes in.
