Cromarty and Dingwall Light Railway

The Cromarty and Dingwall Light Railway was a Scottish railway company authorized on 1 August 1902 to build a roughly 17-mile line connecting Cromarty on the Black Isle to the Highland Railway at Conon Bridge, with planned stations at Cromarty, Newhall, Drumcudden, Culbokie and Alcaig. Construction reached only about six miles from the Cromarty end by 1914, with a further two miles under way including a substantial bridge at Cullicudden Farm, before the First World War halted the work, and the remaining eleven miles were never begun. The laid track was lifted about a year after construction stopped for use elsewhere, and the line was never completed or opened to traffic.
