Coors Brewing Company is an American brewer founded in 1873 in Golden, Colorado, by Adolph Coors and Jacob Schueler, best known for its flagship Coors Banquet and Coors Light beers. The company remained a family-controlled, single-brewery operation for much of its history before expanding nationally in the United States over the twentieth century. In 2005 Coors merged with the Canadian brewer Molson to form Molson Coors Brewing Company, later renamed Molson Coors Beverage Company, under which the historic Coors brand and its original Golden, Colorado brewery continue to operate as part of a larger multinational beer portfolio.
