The Connecticut Central Railroad was a short-line railroad formed in 1987 by members of the Valley Railroad to operate lines around Middletown, Connecticut, that Conrail had targeted for abandonment. Headquartered in Middletown, it carried freight such as pulpboard, lumber, fertilizer, chemicals, brick and steel over about 17.9 miles of track until the Providence and Worcester Railroad acquired it in 1998.
