The Columbia and Sumter Railroad was a South Carolina railroad company chartered by the state's General Assembly in 1866, shortly after the Civil War, to run a roughly 43-mile line between Columbia and Sumter through Cane Savannah, Wedgefield, Eastover and Andrews. It operated independently only briefly before being sold in 1870 to the Wilmington, Columbia and Augusta Railroad, which itself merged into the Atlantic Coast Line Railroad in 1898; by the 1950s the line still carried a daily local passenger train and two daily through freights. The route became the Seaboard Coast Line Railroad's Eastover Subdivision in 1967 and is now operated by CSX Transportation, still serving a paper mill near Eastover.
