Cleveland-Cliffs Inc. is an American mining and steel company headquartered in Cleveland, Ohio, the largest flat-rolled steel producer in North America and the largest supplier of iron ore pellets to the North American steel industry. It traces its origins to 1847, when it began as an iron ore mining venture on Michigan's Upper Peninsula, and it operated for most of its history purely as an iron ore mining company before transforming itself into an integrated steelmaker through a series of major acquisitions completed between 2020 and 2021, including AK Steel and the United States operations of ArcelorMittal. Cleveland-Cliffs now mines iron ore, produces steel and manufactures finished steel products, supplying the automotive, construction, appliance and infrastructure industries. The company remains one of the largest private-sector employers in the American steel industry.
