Cihan News Agency was a Turkish news agency based in Istanbul, established in 1994 as part of Feza Publications, the media group that also owned the newspaper Zaman and the weekly magazine Aksiyon. At its height the agency served the large majority of Turkey's national newspapers and television stations, employing several hundred staff across the country's provinces. It was shut down on July 27, 2016 under a statutory decree issued during the state of emergency that followed the 2016 Turkish coup attempt, over its alleged links to the Gulen movement.
