Chorus is New Zealand's largest telecommunications infrastructure company, building and operating nationwide fibre broadband and copper telecommunication networks. It sells only at wholesale, providing network access to retail telecommunications companies rather than selling directly to consumers, and it built the majority of the country's Ultra-Fast Broadband fibre network, completed in December 2022 and reaching about 87 percent of New Zealanders. Headquartered in Wellington, Chorus was created in 2011 when it was demerged from Telecom New Zealand as a condition of that company winning government contracts for the broadband rollout, and it is listed on both the New Zealand and Australian stock exchanges.
