China Railway Engineering Corporation, known as CREC, is a Chinese state owned infrastructure contractor headquartered in Beijing, tracing its roots to two Ministry of Railways bureaus formed in 1950 and reorganized into its current corporate structure in 2017. The company specializes in railway construction, tunnel boring and bridge engineering, and it has diversified into real estate, mining and financial services, operating through subsidiaries including China Railway Group Limited. As of 2024 CREC ranked as the second largest infrastructure contractor in the world, reporting revenue of about one point one six trillion yuan and total assets of one point nine one trillion yuan while employing roughly three hundred eight thousand people. The corporation is wholly owned by the Chinese central government through the State owned Assets Supervision and Administration Commission and carries out projects in countries including Cambodia, Jordan and Thailand.
