Channel Infrastructure NZ operates New Zealand's largest fuel import terminal at Marsden Point, near Whangarei, storing and distributing about 40 percent of the country's fuel including roughly 80 percent of its jet fuel. The company was formerly the New Zealand Refining Company, later Refining NZ, which operated New Zealand's only significant oil refinery at Marsden Point from 1964 until it was permanently closed and dismantled in 2022; the company then relaunched as Channel Infrastructure and converted the site into an import only terminal, with plans to redevelop it further as an energy precinct.
