Cervecería Nacional Dominicana (CND) is the primary beer producer in the Dominican Republic, owned jointly by AmBev and Grupo León Jimenes. Founded in 1929 by the American entrepreneur Charles H. Wanzer, it was the country's first brewery and grew into the largest in the Antilles and Central America, with sales of 3.8 million hectoliters. Its flagship brand Presidente launched in 1935, followed by Bohemia Especial, Presidente Light and the dark beer Ambar; its current brewery complex opened in 1951 and the company employs 2,500 people, producing up to 500 million liters of beer.
