CargoNet AS is the principal operator of freight trains on the Norwegian railway network, headquartered in Oslo. Formed in 2002 as the renamed freight division of the state railway NSB, it was initially owned jointly by NSB and the Swedish freight operator Green Cargo before becoming a wholly owned subsidiary of the Vy group in 2010. CargoNet runs intermodal container and bulk-cargo services from twelve freight terminals across Norway, and after withdrawing from the Swedish market in 2011 it relaunched cross-border Scandinavian shuttle services in 2020 to the ports of Gothenburg, Malmo and Trelleborg. The company reported revenue of 1.247 billion Norwegian kroner and 402 employees in 2022.
