Bunzl plc is a British multinational distribution and outsourcing company headquartered in London, with roots stretching back to 1854, when the Bunzl family founded a haberdashery business in Pozsony, then in Austria-Hungary and now in Slovakia. The family relocated the business to Britain after the Nazi seizure of its assets in 1938, and it was reorganised in London in 1940 as Tissue Papers Limited, initially manufacturing cigarette filters and paper products before restructuring between the 1980s and 2000s into a pure distribution business. Today Bunzl distributes products across more than 32 countries to sectors including foodservice, food retail, healthcare, cleaning and safety equipment, employing roughly 27,000 people. The company is a constituent of the FTSE 100 Index.
