Boker is a German cutlery manufacturer founded in 1869 and headquartered in Solingen, tracing its roots to seventeenth-century German toolmaking before specializing in swords and blades during the nineteenth century; by 1839 the business is reported to have produced about 2,000 sabres a week for military customers. The company later became one of the first to offer ceramic knives as a featured product line, and today reports revenue of about 30 million US dollars with roughly 140 employees.
